Mumbai blasts- BAU is the answer?

The mumbai blasts happened yesterday. Today, offices are open, the sensex went up and people are on the trains again. Like nothing happened. TV channels are saying its a good thing.

So its going to happen again, right?

Almost 200 people died yesterday, and its business as usual here. What is the message we are sending to the terrorists? Go ahead, bomb our cities, its ok, we'll bounce back. We dont care.

What would have been the response in other countries. Action would have been taken. People would have wanted to know what is being done. They would have been answered.

People in Mumbai however, are just waiting for the next train.

Mumbai has become and organism, and not a collective human society. For an organism, if one part decays, it is discrded and the organism survives. Human society however, would look at more than discarding the decayed piece. It would look at healing it. Mumbai survives alright, but only to wait for another blast.

Who did it is not the question to be asked? Somebody would always have the motivation to bomb a train full of people. What are we doing to prevent this from happening again? Going back to office and pretending it never happened. That the blasts which took away 200 lives did not spark a communal riot? Great. Lets wait for it to then.

hey

hey hey, hey.
leave me alone for just one day.
turn back on me, and look away,
wait for me to come again

hey, hey hey.
look here, i am not a kid anymore.
i have grown up, and some more.
my life has changed
but you never noticed.
i'm not the same one
you used to know.

look into my eyes
i dont want to lie
theres no party and there no time
its all work thats all i am.

i wish what you are saying was a little true
i'd probably be closer to what i thot i'd be
but its the image you wanted all the time
now that you've got it, you doubt it all the time, time , time.

hey hey, hey hey hey.

ladakh

this site belongs to a junior at IMI's dad. the photos do too. in any case, i thought the photos look so good. this is one of the things i want to do. go to ladakh and take pictures of the place. stay there for a month and have yak tea. avoid yak cheese or butter bacause it is like stone, and the cheese definetly has some hair in it! i know this cause some of my nepali friends once bought yak cheese from nepal and i was chewing and gnawing on it for about 2 hours! and then it finally went down my throat. along with some yak hair. and i dont care to know which part of the body the hair came from.

STAND BY ME

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh Stand, stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Woah stand now, stand by me, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Woah stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

the leaves fading into the blackness

the leaves were big and heavy. when i looked up, they were fading into the night above. deep green, turning into an almost black, turning into the night.

sitting on a good cushioned chair having my coffee, i felt life like that tree. with the leaves of the next few days and the next few months gradually fading into an inky blackness.

at one point i used to be very interested in writing. i used to think of myself as a better form of hemingway. writing in that simple style. making an impact over many people. i used to think like joyce about flowery and achingly beautiful language. that it was so easy to write like that. to emote through language. rather than to describe. actually, while writing this last paragraph, i suddenly realized (like a bolt from the blue), that i actually do think like this even now. i just cannot stand the beautiful writing thing (like a puff cake waiting to be smashed onto the heavily made up literature woman). what i do really like is desciption. the smell. the view. the animals. the people. the cars and the cows. and everything inbetween. what i was thinking. and what that other person whom i am talking to is saying. nothing else. not his/her thoughts. i cannot sense them. no feelings in the air, nor about the eagle looking at the scene from above.

simple. straightforward. statements.
